Style Transfer: Writing Like Hemingway

"Make it sound professional." "Make it funny." These are vague instructions. AI usually interprets "Professional" as "Boring Corporate Speak" and "Funny" as "Cringe Dad Jokes."

To get *real* style, you need to use **Style Transfer**.

In this guide, we will teach the AI to mimic a specific voice—even your own.

1. The Reference Track

Don't describe the style. **Show** the style.

  • *The Prompt:* "Here is a paragraph of my previous writing: [Paste Text]. Analyze the tone, sentence length, and vocabulary. Then, write a new email about [Topic] using this exact style."

2. Famous Voices

AI knows famous authors well.

  • *Prompt:* "Explain how a microwave works in the style of Ernest Hemingway." (Short sentences. Sad tone.)
  • *Prompt:* "Explain it in the style of Shakespeare." (Old English. Dramatic.)

3. The "Anti-Style"

Sometimes it helps to say what you *hate*.

  • *Prompt:* "Write a cover letter. Do NOT use words like 'synergy,' 'passionate,' or 'dynamic.' Keep it dry and factual."

4. Visualizing the Brush

Look at the **Style Brush** on the right.

The "Content" (the facts) remains the same. But the "Texture" changes. The visual shows a plain block of text being "painted" with different patterns—Complex, Simple, Flowery, Stark.

Zoom In, Zoom Out

You can paint with a fine brush. But sometimes you need a wide lens. Learn when to be broad and when to be specific in: [The Shotgun vs. Sniper](/guides/shotgun-vs-sniper.html).
